People have always asked me how I get so much shit done all the time.

Probably for at least the last 10 years of my life or more, I've always had this ability to get a huge amount of stuff done.

I always thought I just hustled. A LOT.

But as an entrepreneur for the last 10 years, Ive realized that it's not my hustle, it's not even my work ethic really...

Nope. What I've learned is...

I do this magical thing where when I'm "at work"...I actually work. On work related stuff.

I'm not buying Xmas gifts for people online. I'm not messaging people on FB - unless it's work related. I'm not texting friends all day, gossiping about random crap.

I work.

Now that I work from home this work focus has become even more invaluable to me. It's so easy to get caught up in day to day minutia, or get distracted, or have people think that because you work from home your time is a free for all.

And if you work from home too you need to get on that shit and put up some serious work hour boundaries.

If anything - when you work from home your time is exponentially more valuable to you than you think.

My #1 Tip for crushing work focus is this:

Turn off your phone.
Put it on do not disturb.
Put it on airplane mode.
Put it in another room if you have to.

Because it is the unicorn of all time wasters.

How many times do you get a text from someone and you see their name pop up in your screen and think "oh that could be important" and it's really just a pic of their lunch?

How many times do you post on Instagram and then go back multiple times a day to see how many likes you got?

And then you get distracted, or end up talking to someone about the most random unimportant crap through text - when you could have had an actual in person conversation with them later that day or week, and 20 minutes later you get back to whatever it was that you were doing and now your brain says nope, nada, we lost our focus, your idea is gone.

Too many times to count am I right?

At first people may be all weirded out or confused - I've gone to check my phone 7 hours later to find 8 texts from the same person and then a missed call and then a voicemail - asking if I'm ok, or if I'm mad at them.

Ummm no, I'm busy. I work. And I actually work when I'm at work.

Try it out. See how much more you can get done when you're not distracted 90% of the time.
